There are literal 50cal paintball guns that can shoot nerf. And the Scepter can be converted to shoot bigger balls. The problem with converting normal markers is that 1) it's much more complicated and expensive to do. And 2) you now can't use it in public or at most games. 3) as it is, rival is limited by the ammo.

Rival rounds are 0.9" in diameter whereas standard paintballs come in either 0.5" or 0.68" diameters. 0.5" (.50 cal) is however the diameter of standard nerf darts so you could potentially load them into front-loaders. Most .50 cal paintballs have a mass of around 1.25g which is almost 25% more than the equivalent dart so performance will suffer.

Granted they won’t hurt as much as being shot by a paintball gun, but it’s definitely a step up from the regular Nerf guns. For those who are looking forward to getting their hands on it, the Zeus MXV-1200 will come with motorized reloads and will cost $50, but for those who don’t want to spend so much, the Apollo XV-700 is pretty much similar minus the motorized reload and will cost $25.
