Week 9 Fantasy Football Starts

It’s Week 9 of the 2022 NFL Season, Bruno Boys Nation and we are halfway through the season. Surprises are fewer and far between and that 8th week of information keeps building on what we know. Teams keep evolving (and devolving) as the weeks go on.

Studs will be studs, and of course those players are cemented in your lineup. At Bruno Boys, we look at the tougher decisions on who to start and who to sit like those pesky flex situations, that third receiver, or a super-flex.

Last week we went 7-6 with our featured Starts. That makes us 47-44 through Week 8. Remember, the Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, New York Giants, Pittsburgh Steelers and San Francisco 49ers players are on BYE and are unavailable. In no particular order, we’ve picked out the best for Week 8 and remember there are bonus Starts and Streams at the end of the article.

12. Isaiah Likely, TE, Baltimore Ravens at New Orleans Saints

We’ve been staying away from injury situations because they can change at the drop of a dime come Saturday night or Sunday morning. But given the situation in Baltimore, they need as many healthy bodies as they can get. Rashod Bateman was placed on injured reserve at the beginning of the week with a Lisfranc injury. That’s going to put a lot of burden on Devin Duvernay, DeMarcus Robinson, and veteran WR DeSean Jackson is probably getting a crash course on the offense as we speak.

But Bateman isn’t the only injury to monitor. Mark Andrews, who we all know is Lamar Jackson’s top receiving option, is ailing with a shoulder injury. He has not practiced all week and has two more days to get a light practice in, because they’re playing on Monday Night at New Orleans. Likely should get more snaps even if Andrews is able to suit up. There’s always the chance of Andrews’ shoulder worsening, or him being used as a decoy.

The loss of Bateman and potentially Andrews should provide more opportunities for players like Likely, who is coming off a performance where he caught 6-of-7 targets for 77 yards and a touchdown against the Bucs. Monitor this very closely heading into Sunday night and Monday morning.
