In the final, Switzerland’s Jil Teichmann edged Australia’s Storm Sanders 6-3 4-6 6-3 and then Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic, who hasn’t dropped a set all week, sealed the deal by cruising past Australia’s Ajla Tomljanovic 6-2 6-1.

The first triumph of Switzerland comes after the country finished runner-up in 2021 and 1998 at the team competition. Australians, who were Billie Jean King Cup runners-up in 2019, were trying to win their first title since 1974, when they won their seventh women’s team tennis championship in an 11-year span.
