If sand from the filter is ending up in the pool then the laterals are getting worn. These are at the bottom of the sand filter and should only allow water to pass. You have a bad lateral(s). You need to remove all of the sand from the filter in order to get to the laterals. Some laterals either unscrew or click or press into place. Once the lateral is repaired replace the sand with new sand using a #20 grade filter sand. k
