ITTF President Joins WADA Foundation Board

The World Anti-Doping Agency announced that International Table Tennis Federation President Petra Sörling has been appointed to the body’s Foundation Board as one of the three ASOIF Representatives, effective January 2023.

The role of the Foundation Board is to serve as the main decision-making body for the organization is comprised equally of members of the Olympic Movement and Public Authorities. The other ASOIF Representatives are Mr. David Lappartient (UCI) and Mr. Jean-Christophe Rolland (World Rowing).

“I am thrilled to be nominated to a spot on WADA’s Foundation Board,” Sörling said of her appointment. “Ensuring clean sport is respected all over the world is one of the core tenants of the Olympic Movement. I would like to thank WADA, the ASOIF and the IOC for putting their trust in me. Joining esteemed colleagues in this endeavour is something I take very seriously, and I am excited to get to work.”

Sörling was elected the first female president of the ITTF in 2021, and at the time of her election was one of only four female Presidents of international sport federations. After winning a four-year mandate, she pledged to modernize the sport and increasing sustainability and diversity opportunities for the sport.
