He's hit a lot of balls off the end of a lighter bat. Certainly a heavier bat = slower bat speed. But according to Adair and basic physics it doesn't mean the velocity of the ball hit off the bat is any slower. So power-wise it seems the same (well better since he has a big barrel now.)

This means that a ball will be struck at a greater rate of acceleration thereby increasing power and velocity of the ball as it leaves the bat. Swinging a lighter bat will also augment bat control and improve pitch selection as it will be easier to control than a heavier one.

The answer to that question is "both," though past players tend to have used heavier bats than do today's players. Baseball's "king of swat" Babe Ruth reportedly began his hitting career using a 54 ounce (1.5 kg) hickory bat, and is known to have used a 40oz bat in 1927 when he hit his 60 home runs.

My timing is better with heavier bats. I tend to lose my shape with light bats. People who I have seen score big runs with lights bats generally have exceptional bats in their hands. If a player can maintain the same bat swing speed with a heavier bat, the heavier bat will produce higher batted ball velocity and an increase in distance. But, any player who has experimented swinging bats with widely different weights knows that it is easier to swing a light bat than a heavier bat.

As you’ll not have much experience with the lighter bat, so you may swing the bat before the ball comes. By using a lighter bat, you may not able to strike a ball as hard as you were able to do before. On the other hand, if you move to low drop weight, means your new bat will be heavier than the previous one.

So in softball terms, balanced = easier to swing, end loaded = harder to swing and heavier bats take more force to move vs. lighter bats. Lets use an example 30oz vs. 26oz bat (balanced or end loaded -- same model different weight): Using the same person, lets say the swing speed using a 26oz bat is 85mph.
