Sacramento Kings @ Miami Heat

Vegas Total: 223.5

Vegas Spread: Mia -7.0

We’ll kick off this slate with the Kings who head into Miami in this one. They’ll be without De’Aaron Fox who left their last game very early on, below is how this team operated with him off of the court last season… I also added Domantas Sabonis ON the court to take account for AFTER that big trade:

I would expect Davion Mitchell will get the start in his place, as he started the second half of their last game after Fox went down. He’s going to look like a strong value option in a tough matchup against this Miami defense. Keegan Murray obviously wasn’t in that data crunch with Fox off of the court because he’s a rookie but he will benefit here as well and has looked good in a strong amount of minutes. Kevin Huerter has at least 43 DraftKings points in back-to-back games and would be a guy I don’t have any issue going back to in this one. Then Harrison Barnes has shaken the rust off as well and looks solid here. From the Heat, Jimmy Butler has been fine over his last few and dropped 33 DraftKings points in this spot a couple of games ago… which isn’t great relative to his price tag. He’s more of a secondary option on a big slate tonight. Bam Adebayo has looked good, however, he has at least 40 DraftKings points in three straight and I love the matchup with the Kings frontcourt. We’ll need to keep an eye on the Breaking News Feed for news on Tyler Herro who left last night’s game early with an eye injury. I would kind of assume he’s going to miss this game, but keep an eye on updates and how it impacts the rest of this team. Kyle Lowry has been sneaky consistent with at least 30 DraftKings points in five of his last six. Then we can round this team out with Max Strus and Caleb Martin as solid secondary options who would both see a boost if Herro were to miss.

5-star play: Davion Mitchell, Domantas Sabonis, Bam Adebayo

4-star play: Keegan Murray, Kevin Huerter, Harrison Barnes, Jimmy Butler, Tyler Herro, Kyle Lowry

Deeper Value: Davion Mitchell

GPP Sleeper: Malik Monk, Max Strus, Caleb Martin, Tyler Herro

Quick shoutout to VIP member “Cenzamatic” on a massive $20k win last season! Sometimes paying up for double studs works, and Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant brought it home for him with the help of some Stanley Johnson and Pistons value. Good work and congrats man!

Boston Celtics @ Cleveland Cavaliers

Vegas Total: 221.5

Vegas Spread: Bos -2.0

Starting with the Celtics, Jayson Tatum came down to Earth with a rough game last time out but I would have no issue going back to him in this one. He dropped 48.4 FanDuel points on the Cavs a couple of games ago and has looked great to start the season. Jaylen Brown will continue to be a tournament option for me due to the scoring dependency he has… and I don’t exactly love the matchup. Marcus Smart and Al Horford are fine secondary options, although Horford has been less than impressive to start the season. Derrick White has been held under 20 FanDuel points in three straight and Malcolm Brogdon had a big game last time out, he would be my preferred option between the two. From the Cavs, we’ll need to watch the Breaking News Feed in this one as well as Darius Garland comes in as questionable after missing their last few games. For the sake of this article, I’ll operate under the assumption that he’s out in this one. Donovan Mitchell continues to look awesome with at least 55 FanDuel points in three of his last five and would have no issue going back to him assuming Garland is out again. If Garland plays, I may be underweight due to the inflated price tag. Caris LeVert came down to Earth last time out as well after dropping 41 real points against the Celtics last time these two met… he would be more of a secondary option for me in this one. Then Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen are solid options at their respective price tags, but on a big slate, I doubt I get to them with any real exposure. We can round this team out with Kevin Love who had a big game last time out but we can’t bank on him going 8-13 from three-point range on a daily basis, he’s probably another guy I just won’t get to much on a big slate.

*** Assuming Darius Garland is OUT ***

5-star play: None

4-star play: Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart, Donovan Mitchell, Caris LeVert

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Jaylen Brown, Al Horford, Malcolm Brogdon, Evan Mobley, Jarrett Allen, Kevin Love

Atlanta Hawks @ New York Knicks

Vegas Total: 230.0

Vegas Spread: Nyk -2.5

Starting with the Hawks, Dejounte Murray and Trae Young have both looked great to start the season. Trae had a down game last time out against Toronto due to a down-shooting game while Murray was kind of in the same boat. Considering the slate and matchup, they’re probably more of secondary options for me than anything for me. John Collins had a nice bounceback game last time out, but again, it’s a big slate and I think we can get picky with our plays, so Collins will be a tournament-only option for me. I do have some Clint Capela interest at this price tag, however. The minutes will be volatile but he should at the least see around 25 and has always been a nice per-minute producer. Then I would have no issue with De’Andre Hunter in tournaments, but his minutes have been more volatile than I would have expected coming into the season. From the Knicks, the price tag on Julius Randle continues to fall but I don’t hate him here against this Atlanta defense. He won’t be a priority for me but he should play 30+ minutes and has a 24.7% usage rate and 1.15 fantasy points per minute on the season. I don’t see myself getting to a whole lot of Jalen Brunson this season, both sites have done really well at pricing him appropriately and it really hasn’t moved a bunch since the start of the season, but he’s a fine secondary option. RJ Barrett has not been good to start the season and we haven’t seen a ceiling game yet… which I’m not sure we’ll get as long as this team is healthy. Then I suppose we can round this team out with Mitchell Robinson as a tournament option, but the rest of this team is too cute for a big slate.

5-star play: None

4-star play: Dejounte Murray, Trae Young, Clint Capela, Julius Randle, Jalen Brunson

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: John Collins, De’Andre Hunter, RJ Barrett, Mitchell Robinson

Charlotte Hornets @ Chicago Bulls

Vegas Total: 228.0

Vegas Spread: Chi -5.0

Starting with the Hornets, they’ll continue to be without LaMelo Ball and Terry Rozier in this one which opens up a ton of usage and playing time in that backcourt. Kelly Oubre Jr. and Dennis Smith Jr. should stick in that starting lineup until these guys come back. Oubre has looked solid as of late and is always a guy I have an interest in when the minutes are solidified like they are here. He has a 26.6% usage rate and 1.00 fantasy points per minute with these guys off the court this season. The same can be said for Smith Jr., he may not be a great NBA player but when he gets the playing time, he’s awesome for DFS and has at least 36 DraftKings points in four of his last five gamesGordon Hayward is another guy I have no problem going back to but I kind of figured we’d see some sort of ceiling game from him, but we just haven’t since Rozier went down. Then PJ Washington and Mason Plumlee look like fine secondary GPP options to round out the team. From the Bulls, they’ll be without Zach LaVine on the back end of a back-to-back in this one. Below is how this team operates with him off of the court this season:

I’m going to like getting to DeRozan and Vucevic here in a big way, we saw them both put up some big numbers with LaVine off of the court earlier this season and this is an elite matchup with the Hornets. Dosunmnu and Caruso are solid as well if you land in their price range, but outside of those four, I’m not going to force anything.

5-star play: DeMar DeRozan, Nikola Vucevic

4-star play: Kelly Oubre Jr., Dennis Smith Jr., Gordon Hayward, Ayo Dosunmu

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: PJ Washington, Mason Plumlee, Alex Caruso, Coby White

Detroit Pistons @ Milwaukee Bucks

Vegas Total: 224.0

Vegas Spread: Mil -11.5

We saw this matchup a few days ago, so we have somewhat of a sample size to go off of for these two teams. Starting with the Pistons, Cade Cunningham has finally found his footing with at least 48 DraftKings points in four straight games and will look like a great option yet again in this one. Jaden Ivey has shown some volatility but bounced back with a nice game against the Bucks last time out and played a massive 40 minutes in that one. Saddiq Bey will continue to be a tournament-only option, he’s about as volatile as it gets, but the ceiling is there when he’s cooking. Jalen Duren will miss this game after missing their last game as well. Isaiah Stewart should play all the minutes he can handle with Duren out but foul trouble could be an issue as it was last game. Giannis isn’t exactly an easy assignment in the paint, so expect to see some Nerlens Noel and Isaiah Livers minutes as well… but neither of them are in play for DFS, I wouldn’t have an issue going back to Stewart, however. From the Bucks, Giannis Antetokounmpo had a down game last time out relative to his standards but would be a guy I have no issue going right back to in this one. He has a 36.9% usage rate and 1.79 fantasy points per minute on the season and is one of the best raw options on the slate. Jrue Holiday continues to look great with at least 52 DraftKings points in back-to-back games and will be a strong option again in this one. Bobby Portis continues to play well as well and will be a solid GPP option due to the volatility of his minutes. Brook Lopez has been sneaky great to start the season and has at least 33 DraftKings points in four of his last five games and makes sense as a mid-range center option. Then Grayson Allen is a fine tournament option but is extremely scoring-dependent.

5-star play: Giannis Antetokounmpo,

4-star play: Cade Cunningham, Isaiah Stewart, Jaden Ivey, Saddiq Bey, Jrue Holiday, Bobby Portis, Brook Lopez

Deeper Value: Jevon Carter

GPP Sleeper: Saddiq Bey, Jalen Duren, Jaden Ivey, Grayson Allen, Bobby Portis

Los Angeles Clippers @ Houston Rockets

Vegas Total: 224.0

Vegas Spread: Lac -5.0

This is another game we saw last time these two took the court, so we get a good sample size as well. Starting with the Clippers, it sounds like they’ll be without Kawhi Leonard for the next few games, so we can take him off of the court here. Paul George had one of his best games probably of his career last time out… at least in terms of fantasy production aided by six steals. I have no issue going right back to him in this one in a great matchup with the Rockets. Reggie Jackson has seen at least 30 minutes in three of his last four games but has been incredibly volatile and now with John Wall back I can’t see that helping his cause. He’s more of a GPP dart than anything for me. The same can be said for Norman Powell who has been a pretty big disappointment to start the season… I’ll wait for him to develop some consistency or for that price tag to come down a bit. Ivica Zubac is volatile but has shown a really nice ceiling this season and in a great matchup, he’ll look good for tournaments again here. Then we can round out the team with Marcus Morris who saw 37 minutes last time out and should see some good run again in this one with Robert Covington still likely out. From the Rockets, Alperen Sengun was a core play for me and actually my lock of the day last time out. He ended up doing fine and now has at least 30 FanDuel points in three straight games. I like going right back to the well with him here, he has a 22.3% usage rate and 1.25 fantasy points per minute on the season. Tari Eason will be taken out of my player pool until he starts to see more minutes, especially on a big slate, I can’t justify a guy that we’d be thrilled with if he got 20 minutes. Jabari Smith hasn’t been all that great as of late and is still priced up… that said, I don’t have an issue going back to him in tournaments if you land on him. Then Kevin Porter Jr. and Jalen Green will continue to run this backcourt and are both guys I’ll go right back to the well with them here. Both guys have been great this season, but Porter Jr. has been better over their last couple of games.

5-star play: Paul George, Alperen Sengun

4-star play: Ivica Zubac, Kevin Porter Jr., Jalen Green

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Reggie Jackson, Norman Powell, Jabari Smith, Marcus Morris

Toronto Raptors @ San Antonio Spurs

Vegas Total: 224.0

Vegas Spread: Tor -7.0

Starting with the Raptors, Pascal Siakam continues to crush with at least 47 DraftKings points in six straight games and gets a great matchup in this one. I love going right back to the well with him especially if Fred VanVleet ends up missing again. VanVleet comes in as questionable, so keep an eye on the Breaking News Feed for news on him, but Siakam had a 28.2% usage rate and 1.21 fantasy points per minute with him off of the court last season. Scottie Barnes would likely run the point again if VanVleet were to miss as well which would be good for his value, as we saw last time out with a great game…. and I love targeting point guards against this Spurs team. Then Gary Trent Jr. and OG Anunoby both looked solid last time out and would-be guys I have no issue going right back to in this one in a great matchup. From the Spurs, we’ll need some news on this team as well as Keldon Johnson and Jeremy Sochan come in as questionable. I’m going to operate under the assumption that they’re good to go here, but Devin Vassell will still be out for this team. Johnson continues to look good and has a 29.7% usage rate and 1.32 fantasy points per minute with him off of the court this season. The price tag on Jakob Poeltl has come up a bit but he’s been the model of consistency this season and looks solid again in this one. Tre Jones has been held under 30 FanDuel points in three straight and I don’t exactly love this matchup, his price is finally in the right range, so more of a secondary option for me. Then Josh Richardson looks like a solid option again in this one and should see 30+ minutes yet again.

*** Assuming Fred VanVleet is OUT ***

5-star play: Pascal Siakam, Keldon Johnson

4-star play: Scottie Barnes, Gary Trent Jr., OG Anunoby, Jakob Poeltl, Josh Richardson

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Tre Jones

Utah Jazz @ Dallas Mavericks

Vegas Total: 222.0

Vegas Spread: Dal -6.0

Starting with the Jazz, Lauri Markkanen had an absolutely massive game last time out with 60 FanDuel points, I’ll have no issue going right back to the well in a great matchup with this Mavericks frontcourt. Jordan Clarkson has looked great as of late as well and has a 24.1% usage rate with 1.07 fantasy points per minute on the season. Collin Sexton went back to the bench last time out and saw his minutes come back down to 24, I won’t have much interest in him off of the bench on this slate. Kelly Olynyk struggled big time with foul trouble last time out which is why he only saw 21 minutes, but I have no issue going back to him here assuming he can stay out of foul trouble and get those minutes back up. Jarred Vanderbilt has been fine as of late but isn’t racking up the double-doubles like he was earlier in the season… his minutes have also been trending in the wrong direction. Mike Conley will always be a secondary type of guy for me and is someone I’ll have no issue with if you land on him, but not a priority by any means. From the Mavs, Luka Doncic will be right up there with Giannis as a top raw option on this slate. He has at least 64 FanDuel points in four of his last five games and looks like an elite option yet again here. Christian Wood comes in as questionable in this one, but considering it’s an illness, I’ll assume he’s good to go. That being said, I can’t say I have a ton of interest in him at this price tag coming off of the bench. This team is pretty easy for me to break down… it’s Luka and pretty much nobody else for me on a big slate, I suppose you could make a case for Tim Hardaway Jr. or Spencer Dinwiddie in GPPs.

5-star play: Lauri Markkanen, Luka Doncic

4-star play: Jordan Clarkson, Kelly Olynyk

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Collin Sexton, Jarred Vanderbilt, Tim Hardaway Jr., Spencer Dinwiddie, Christian Wood

Memphis Grizzlies @ Portland Trail Blazers

Vegas Total: 226.5

Vegas Spread: Mem -4.5

Starting with the Grizzlies, Ja Morant returned last time out and looked solid, he wasn’t limited at all which is the big thing I’m looking for. He’ll look like a fine spend-up option here and would get a boost if Desmond Bane ends up missing again as he did last time out. Morant had a 35.5% usage rate and 1.47 fantasy points per minute with him off of the court last season, so keep an eye on the Breaking News Feed for updates surrounding this team… Steven Adams is questionable as well and will be news we’ll need on this slate. Assuming he’s good to go, he’ll look great again here, however, the price has certainly caught up to him. Dillon Brooks got up to 30 minutes last time out and I would expect that out of him going forward, he looks pretty solid at this price tag, and he’s certainly not afraid to shoot when he’s in there. Steven Adams has had his minutes trend in the wrong direction and as I’ve mentioned he’s questionable here. He’s probably not a guy I’ll get to on this slate, but if he missed this game it would open up more production for guys like Santi Aldama and Brandon Clarke. From the Blazers, they’ll continue to be without Damian Lillard and Josh Hart comes in as questionable with a concussion. I’ll go right back to the well with Anfernee Simons here as he’s the main fill-in for Dame. He had a 28.9% usage rate and 1.09 fantasy points per minute with Lillard and McCollum off of the court last season and should see 35+ minutes again here. I would expect Shaedon Sharpe to continue to start with Lillard out as well and has looked good early on. His price tag has come up which makes him more of a secondary option, however. Jusuf Nurkic had his best game of the season last time out and will look great again in this one for tournaments, but he’s another guy where the price has come up. Then Josh Hart and Jerami Grant are solid mid-range options that will play 30+ minutes (assuming Hart can go).

5-star play: Ja Morant, Anfernee Simons

4-star play: Desmond Bane, Dillon Brooks, Josh Hart, Jerami Grant, Shaedon Sharpe

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Santi Aldama, Brandon Clarke, Jusuf Nurkic, Justise Winslow, Shaedon Sharpe

New Orleans Pelicans @ Los Angeles Lakers

Vegas Total: 227.5

Vegas Spread: Nop -3.0

We’ll round out the slate starting with the Pelicans, they’ll continue to be without Brandon Ingram in this one. Below is how this team operates with Ingram off of the court on the season:

I would expect Murphy continues to start for Ingram and is playing all the minutes he can handle with at least 25 DraftKings points in four straight games. Rookie Dyson Daniels may see some extra run as well and he had a really nice game last time out in 22 minutes… he’d be more of a dart throw in GPPs however. I love the matchup against this Lakers defense, so guys like McCollum, Zion, and Valanciunas will all look solid at their respective price tags. From the Lakers, stop me if you’ve heard this before, but Anthony Davis is questionable. I’m just going to assume he plays, he’s going to have this tag for most of the season. LeBron James has been fine as of late but he’s priced for his ceiling and not his median outcome which makes him more of a GPP option for me. Davis has been great when he plays and is too cheap here, he looks like a great option in all formats in this one. I do have some tournament interest in Russell Westbrook at this price tag as well, I wouldn’t touch him in cash, however. Then guys like Patrick Beverley and Lonnie Walker are fine secondary tournament options but not guys that I’ll get too crazy on.

5-star play: Zion Williamson, Anthony Davis

4-star play: CJ McCollum, Jonas Valanciunas, Trey Murphy, LeBron James, Russell Westbrook

Deeper Value: Dyson Daniels

GPP Sleeper: Dyson Daniels, Larry Nance, Russell Westbrook, Patrick Beverley, Lonnie Walker

NBA Lock of the Day: Davion Mitchell (DK – $4.2k; FD – $4.9k)

I would expect Davion Mitchell will get the start for De’Aaron Fox who will miss this game. Mitchell started the second half last time out when Fox went down and ended the game with 31.8 FanDuel/34.0 DraftKings points. He should play 30+ minutes and had a 22.1% usage rate with Fox off of the court last season.
