Camille Hall Carries On Family Tennis Legacy

With her mother a former collegiate tennis player at Morgan State University, and her older sister, a current player at Morgan State and former JTCC alumnae, it’s only fitting that Camille Hall shares a similar passion for the game of tennis.

The Washington D.C. native, who began learning tennis at JTCC at the age of six in JTCC’s Red Ball class, has progressed through the pathway over the last nine years and is currently enrolled in the High Performance Champs I after-school program.

Under the tutelage of Senior Directors of Player Development Ali Agnamba and Oliver Akli, who began coaching her twice a week in 2020, Hall has already made a name for herself on the court.

A sophomore at Elizabeth Seton High School in Bladensburg, MD, Hall is the No. 1 player on her Varsity team in singles and doubles and was honored with the rare distinction of being named captain as a 10th grader.

“I was excited when my head coach told me I would be captain this season. My sister Lauryn was captain last year, so my role now on the team without her is to help motivate my teammates and push them to be their best by supporting one another and playing with energy,” commented Hall.

For Agnamba, the 2022 USOC Developmental Coach of the Year, the growth in Hall’s game has been evident.

“Camille has matured a lot in the last few months,” Agnamba acknowledged. “She is very receptive to feedback from the coaches, and that maturity carries over onto the court where she has been competing very well.”

Camille’s mother, Kim, has witnessed both of her daughters’ development at JTCC and is impressed with the lifelong lessons learned from training.

“JTCC prepared our children for more than just tennis at the next level. I have watched my children learn how to compete and, more importantly, learn how to recover after losses. Learning how to recover is one of life’s greatest skills, and JTCC teaches our children how to learn from losses.

Camille describes how JTCC has shaped her on and off the court.

“JTCC does a great job emphasizing their coach-to-player relationships. As a person, JTCC has really helped me become tougher.” Camille Hall noted. “The coaches want you to be the best versions of yourself, and the environment at JTCC builds character.”
