Washington Wizards star Bradley Beal has entered the league’s health and safety protocols, sources told Marc J. Spears of ESPN and Andscape. This makes him unavailable to suit up for the team’s Sunday showdown against the Memphis Grizzlies.

As said by Spears, he’ll make a return once he receives clearance from the current NBA guidelines.

Under the revised COVID mandate by the association, a vaccinated player is only required to be tested when he shows symptoms of the disease. Nevertheless, isolation is mandatory for safety purposes.

Beal joins fellow star and Minnesota Timberwolves big man Rudy Gobert on the league protocols. Gobert previously skipped his club’s Saturday game against the Houston Rockets, wherein Minnesota eventually gained the home dub.

Beal, who inked a $251 million max contract with the Wizards last summer, is currently averaging 21.6 points in 52.1 percent shooting, 5.7 assists and 3.6 boards for the 2022-23 season.

Washington currently sits at the 4-5 win-loss card.
