Iga Swiatek was by far the most dominant player in 2022. As part of our Fashion Retrospections, let’s do an overview of the Pole’s Asics apparel in the season that saw her win eight titles, including two Grand Slams.
The world number one’s style remains classic — simple sporty silhouettes, minimalistic color palettes, no excessive details. This mauve pink sleeveless dress featuring a crew neck and a big cutout on the back was Swiatek’s choice for her first tournament in 2022, the Adelaide International 1.
At the Australian Open, the Pole launched this watercolor print apparel that combines lavender, light blue and neon yellow. In Dubai, Doha, Indian Wells and Miami, Swiatek continued to wear the collection that is 100% sustainable — everything is made from recycled material.
In Stuttgart and in Rome, en route to her fourth and fifth WTA titles of the season, Swiatek wore the Asics Paris Match Graphic Tank, Paris Match Skirt, and matching Gel Resolution 8 Tennis Shoes. It’s like a dark version of her Aussie Open apparel.
Swiatek’s Wimbledon attire included strategically mapped cooling zones that gave texture to an all-white look.
In Toronto and Cincinnati, the 21-year-old sported green separates in a print that reminds of tie-dye patterns. The pieces are made from ultra light pinhole fabric. The Asics Women’s Fall Match Graphic Tank features an elongated back and side hem vents. It can be combined with the Asics Women’s Fall Match Graphic Skirt, but Swiatek opted for a solid mint version of the design.
A similar green outfit was Swiatek’s choice at the US Open. The Pole paired the Match Skort, characterized by a pleated and textured mesh fabric overlay, with the Asics Match Tank, that has overlapping panels with a keyhole cutout on the back.
At her last three tournaments of the 2022 season, including the WTA Finals in Fort Worth, Swiatek wore a dark blue tank with a keyhole opening on the back and a layered skirt, standard Asics designs. The world number one’s tennis shoe of choice in Texas was the sky/dive blue colorway of the Gel Resolution 8.
What do you think about Iga’s 2022 style? Do you prefer to see her in classic outfits or would you like her to experiment with more details and patterns?
